FILM WORKSHOP FOR TEENS

Open to grades 8-12

The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School's Summer Film Program is an immersive two-week workshop where students will learn how to generate ideas for their films and be introduced to the fundamentals of filmmaking. Students will collaborate with peers to produce professional-quality short films, gain hands-on experience with professional-grade equipment and build a portfolio. This is an excellent class for students who want to test the filmmaking waters. Space is limited. For Rising 8th-12th Graders. 

Please note: There will be a one hour lunch break each day; The second week 6/30-7/3 will have increased hours to accommodate the July 4 holiday; 8th-12th Grade Only


 What to expect:

  • Collaborate with peers to produce professional-quality short films

  • Learn filmmaking essentials, including directing, cinematography, sound, lighting, and production design

  • Gain hands-on experience with professional-grade filmmaking equipment

  • Build a portfolio that stands out for college applications and student film festivals

Session 1: June 23 - July 3*

Session 2: July 7 - July 18

Hours: 9am - 4pm

*hours will increase on some days in the first session to compensate for the off day (July 4). 

COST: $550 per session.
